Heladji Dame Sarr, combo guard di 196cm, è il miglior prospetto NBA italiano. Nato ad Oderzo (Treviso) il 4 Giugno 2006, grazie ad un ottimo ANGT ed un’eccellente Europeo U16, nell’estate del 2022 passa dall’Orange1 Bassano all’FC Barcellona. Quest’anno esordisce in Liga ACB a 16 anni, 7 mesi e 18 giorni, diventando il secondo più giovane di sempre a debuttare con la maglia blaugrana; mentre qualche mese dopo in 6 minuti di gioco segna 8 punti con 4/6 dal campo nella vittoria contro Fuenlabrada.
Questa estate con l’Italia disputa da sotto età l’Europeo U18, mettendo a referto in sette partite e 33.5 minuti di media: 17.3 punti (40.9% da 2, 40.8% da 3, 60.0% tiri liberi), 4.0 rimbalzi, 2.1 assist, 1.3 recuperi, 2.0 perse, 1.4 stoppate, 1.9 falli commessi, 3.7 di plus/minus e 13.7 di efficienza. Cifre che gli hanno permesso di essere il migliore tra gli Azzurri per minuti, punti, recuperi e stoppate, secondo per efficienza e percentuale da tre e terzo per rimbalzi, assist e plus/minus.
Jonathan Givony, NBA Draft Analyst per ESPN e fondatore di Draft Express, ha inserito il prodotto del Belpaese nella lista dei migliori prospetti NBA dell’Europeo U18, posizionandolo alla numero 6.

“Playing up a year as a recently-turned 17-year-old, Sarr confirmed his status as one of the best shot-making prospects in Europe, converting 41% of 3-pointers on significant volume after hitting 39% of his attempts at the U16s a year ago. The thin-framed, long-armed 6-6 wing has some tools finishing around the basket with a runway, makes shots from all over the floor with his feet set and off the dribble, and brings strong activity crashing the glass, running the floor and pressuring the ball defensively, doing everything with a high activity level. NBA teams will want to see Sarr make progress with his ball handling, passing, decision-making and awareness defensively as his career moves forward. He can be mistake-prone at times on both ends of the floor, perhaps not surprising considering his youth and the significant aggressiveness he demonstrates with everything he does. He shot just 41% inside the arc at this event, struggling to create his own shot effectively and not having the strength to finish around the basket. He moved to Barcelona in Spain last year and already made his ACB debut last season, to much fanfare.”
